Default New window/tab on almost all page loads.

I have been testing the ShowCase product on one of your featured sites. The product seems to open a new window or tab on almost every page load. Is this a feature by design?

Scott

Edti - Figured it out, Sorry.

Please move thread to ShowCase forum.

Scott,
I moved this thread into our ShowCase pre-sales forum since it is related to ShowCase.

Currently, by design, ShowCase will open new windows for the showcase display. This is also the way our Garage products started out and we have moved to a index page approach recently as a "central area" for navigating through member garages. For ShowCase this is a bit more difficult as you can have multiple showcase types in a site so the question is do you have multiple index pages (one for each showcase type), do you aggregate them together into one display, etc. We haven't, to date, received enough feedback from our ShowCase customers to provide a development direction on this front. As we gain more input I expect we'll see several different potential solutions emerge.

Thanks!

Mark

Is this something that can be changed by hard coding? The new window for every click just doesn't work for me. I understand you're looking at changing this in future releases, which I agree with. But I also want to make sure I can change this now if needed.

Thank you.

Windows open because there is no central location for ALL showcases. This is compounded for sites that have multiple showcase types. Ideally you would have some type of "index" page for all showcases of that type.

I may be able to provide code to prevent opening of each page but I would expect the changes to be quite extensive given the current version.

I guess I'm confused by the reasoning for new windows. Why would you want any link in Showcase to open in a new window? (other then the photos of course)

It was simply the initial design decision since we wanted to support multiple showcase types (often unrelated types) in the same installation and not having enough feedback from customers to determine if/how a central showcase interface should be displayed.

Garage once operated in the same manner until we received enough input to determine what type of index interface to provide. That said, due to the support of multiple showcase types in the same site, I'm not sure that a centralized index for all showcases should be done in the same way. Again, as we gather additional feedback from customers using ShowCase I'm sure the design will evolve further.
