Default Feature Request - vendor hosting for banners

I have a couple vendors that would like to host their own banner on their website so they can update it more easily and from one spot since they sponsor several forums. I don't think this is currently possible with Vendor Tools?

Jim,

Currently banners need to be hosted locally. We do plan on adding a method to include banners hosted elseware.

This isn't currently supported with VT. We built it this way since the majority of vendors we've worked with aren't that familiar with managing their own ads. Of those that do you have to periodically monitor your directory to make sure all are showing ads. Sometimes vendors will accidentally rename their ads and they stop getting served to you. By uploading it makes sure that they stay in place no matter what the vendor may do on their site.

Yeah, I realize there is some risk of that. But hate to tell a sponsor no, if they are dead set on it. I think it would be a good feature....and maybe something that could be enabled by admin on a vendor by vendor basis. (Some are more "with it" than others...)

You are correct. Given that I'm in the middle of vb4 work on all our products right now is there a work around solution that you can offer the vendors for now? Will they work with the current solution for a while?

Thanks!

Mark

It's no problem...I posted it here as a future request. For now I figured out how to remotely host their banner in OpenX and they will have to use the vendorCP to upload if they need to change it in the vendor listings.

Ideally I'd like to see this all come together with the VT/OpenX integration...and from VT allow them on an admin set basis to remotely host and be able to change their banners for ad rotation from VT. (I don't ask for much do I...)

BTW- I am very happy with Vendor Tools. It gives a professional touch to the site and my interaction with the vendors advertising on my site.
