setting modifications - Drive Thru Online - Support

Can the settings be modified in the Garage Pro?
example:
can "Packages - 508 Character limit." be changed to VIN with it's own limits?

If you are comfortable in modifying the files please feel free. The license does allow you to modify at will so long as it is for your own use and not redistributed to others.

I would strongly recommend documenting any changes you make as updates to the product from us will most likely overwrite any changes you make.

Please note that while we do allow for modifications we cannot support them.

so, changing the name was easy since you have the Phrases for everything. Translated Packages to be VIN. Now the question is: how can i make the search for VIN to look the same at the search by make?

It would require a modification to the way the search and database interact. Packages is set a text field in the data base and coded to be searchable with free text, not as a drop down.

I guess i am looking into the Garage pro for more Showcase features. BUt it also looks liek Garage Pro has a way to build forum blocks adn modules where Showcase only has modules for vBAdvance. Are there plans on having forum blocks for Showcase?

Steve,

ShowCase and Garage Plus both have vBadvanced modules. Garage Plus has more of them, including Random Garage, Garage of the Day or Week or Month, and Garage stats. ShowCase only has a Random ShowCase module.

I think you are referring to commenting. Garage Plus has optional commenting where the Garage Display is a forum thread. ShowCase does not yet have that feature. It is on the roadmap, I cannot say when we will work that feature in at this time.

I do not have vBAdvanced running on my site since i am using native VB CMS system. I like the modules that you provide for VBA but i cannot use them. Unless someone can have a brief tutorial on how to convert them. I set up the Forum block with the instructions provided in the documentation and that works great. Same code can be used in the CMS Widget. And that is great too. This is only for Random garage, but it gives a presence to the garage on the side bar.

I did not see that instruction in the Showcase. I can live without comments, but promotion of features would be great.

The other things that would be useful is the ability to promote the posts to articles. I know that the VB CMS allows that for posts and blogs, but that option is not there for the Garage. If that was present, i could turn any page into a feature.

We have been waiting for vB to address the issues with CMS that have been in place since 4.0 first came out. We have seen again and again that the CMS will updated in the next release only to find that the CMS changes keep getting pushed forward. Once there is a CMS that is stable we will start working on creating modules that work with vB CMS.
