Default Club Categories

Would it be possible to mod the Clubs Mod so that there could register under a club cateogry. For example: model train club, model car club, airplane club etc.?

Thanks
Bill

Are you thinking of adding another field that would be a pre-populated drop down box with the desired categories?

Just trying to get a feel as to how you want this to work.

Nathan, I have a couple of sites and one Vbulletin site that I am working on is geared to a whole industry not a segment. I know your products are geared towards motor vehicle clubs and so I will use that as an example. Right now your club mod is aimed at a forum for a specific car make such as the Mini. So someone that has a forum for Minis would want your Club Mod so that Mini clubs could register their clubs on the forum. So someone coming to the site that has a Mini could search the club directory and find the nearest Mini club. Someone with a Ford Mustand wouldn't come to the Mini site and expect to find a Mustang club listed.

My site would be more like a general sports car site and I would want to be able to list clubs by type, i.e. Ford Mustang Club, Mini Club, Porsche Club. Visitors coming to the site would be able to search the directory by type of club (Ford, Porsche etc.) and by locale. It could be by drop down, radio button etc. and pre-populated would be fine. We deal with radio control flying clubs, radio control car clubs etc. and I would want to be able to categorize the clubs by type/interest.

Thanks
Bill

I'm not sure what sort of reply you are looking for. From your thoughts on this we have worked them into our long term plans for Clubs. I cannot give a specific time frame but one we start working on this I have you tagged to show early versions to get more input.

I'm a little confused, you asked for more details on the question I originally asked you, if the script could be modified to do something (in a pre-sales forum). You responded with a question asking for more details. I responded with more details and I tried to clarify what I was asking for. I was waiting to find out whether or not it was possible to make the changes or if something similar was coming out in the future. I've already bought one of your scripts for one of my sites and I'm trying to decide on whether or not to purchase the Vendor Tools, Showcase and Clubs Scripts for another site. My sites are not automotive related and I don't want to spend that kind of money to find it won't work for me. I know it's easy to misread posts etc., There's no malice in my post LOL.

Sorry if we misunderstood each other.

The script could be modified to do what you what you are looking for and in talking about it internally we think it is a good idea. It will involve a bit of work on our end to add another layer of categories. As we are working on other DTO products right now we added you idea to our list of future features. It is from the ideas of customers such as yourself that we grow the functionality of our product line.

We do come from an automotive background and tend to think that way in designing products. However, some of them are much more generic in nature. Both Vendor Tools and ShowCase fit that bill, Clubs not so much and Garage Plus is very much vehicular in nature.

I'd be happy to create a demo site for you to work with Vendor Tools and ShowCase. It would be best if we schedule a time to go over the demo site over the phone where I can point out the features how they are are of more generic site nature. I see you are using vB 4.1.7 on the Hobby Central site. I'll have a demo built with a base vB install by noon on Wednesday.

My personal email is nathan@drivethruonline.com Please let me know when you have 20-30 min for a demo. I'll be happy to give you a call or provide you with my number.

Nathan, sorry I got busy with my stores. I own a couple of retail stores and we are gearing up for Black Friday. Could you give me a link to the test site and let me play around with it?

Thanks
Bill
