Default 4.0 skinning

Here is what I have done so far with the skinning of my test forum. I think the forum styling system is still missing many stylevars.

Looks good.

Have you migrated the forum to 4 or is that just a test site?

Scott,
I think your site looks very nice. I've only dabbled with the new stylevar manager but it looks like you can more easily create a custom look than having to immediately go to a 3rd party for a new skin. While I still think that there will be lots of people doing skinning this takes owners a lot closer to doing it themselves....at least to get their sites to a launch point.

For your site the only thing needed is getting rid of the standard vBulletin logo in the header. You've probably already seen this but in the referenced article there is a piece on how to quickly change out the header and footer using the new stylevar manager.

Just for yucks I've been spending little bits of time here and there experimenting with getting pieces of our products working under 4.0. While nothing exciting here is a screen cap of our Thread Move help running under vB 4 Beta 3

This is an older forum license "Still Active" I have sitting around and just upgraded to 4.0 for testing. The forum will go away when I have gold for the main site.

I think some of the skins that will be developed will be amazing, vBulletin is lucky to have such a talented following to offer most of them free to forum owners.

I am in the process of changing out the logo that is a bit smaller due to the amount of open space that will be created in the header with my original logo size. My first thoughts for the space would be to put either a small bank of ads that would fill the area or maybe even display random ShowCase images, say 4 in a row with nice frames around them and linked to the entry?

I like to leave most everything stock on the forums.

Scott

Thats one of the first sites I've seen with 4.0 that has done anything with the header. I'm feeling a lot better about 4.0 with each beta that is released and with seeing more and more people showing examples of different skinning techniques.

Is this a test forum are have you gone into production with the 4.0 beta?

Thanks for sharing.

I have seen several very nice header examples at vB.com, they all look very nice.

I cannot wait to see some of the custom skinning that will be available when vB gold is released.

I am live with the beta, it is the beta 4. It is working well for me so far, I don't have much traffic yet it is a new site so I felt safe using the latest beta. I lost the garage plus feature for now but I know that DTO will have a upgrade soon after gold is released, I hope.
I would like to see a option to showcase a few garages on the forum home page in the next release. Thanks for the reply.
